Olusegun Obasanjo

Olusegun Obasanjo served as President of Nigeria from May 1999 to May 2007. It was the culmination of a life spent on the front line of African politics. In 2008 he was appointed by the United Nations as a special envoy for Africa and has since overseen democratic elections on behalf of the African Union and Ecowas in countries across the continent. He has since emerged as an advocate for investment into the country and with the launch of his Foundation will tackle issues critical to advance across the Continent. Olusegun Obasanjo is also Founder of the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, a UK based charity that has a mission of advancing Human Security for All. The Foundation has wide ranging initiatives of Feeding Africa, Youth Empowerment, Education for Girls and a health initiative focused on non-communicable and water borne diseases.

Joy Ogbu

Professor Joy Uche Angela Ogwu, born August 23, 1946, is a former Foreign Minister of Nigeria and has been the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations in New York since 2008. She is the second woman to hold the post in the history of Nigeria. Prior to her Ministerial career, she served as Director–General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA). A distinguished professor of International Relations, diplomat extraordinary, wife, mother, grandmother, role model, community builder and active global citizen, she has advised the United Nations on disarmament issues and has published books promoting more African ties to Latin America. She is the former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR). Under her, Nigeria has achieved a milestone when she assumed the Presidency of the United Nations Security Council. This is the second time that Prof. Ogwu would be presiding over the Security Council, as well as the second time that Nigeria would have served in the Council under her leadership.

DISTINGUISHED KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Dr. Kolapo Olusola

DR. KOLAPO OLUSOLA started his educational pursuit at St. Mathew’s Primary School, Ikere-Ekiti (1972-1978) and had his Secondary School Education at Annunciation School, Ikere-Ekiti (1978-1983) where he recorded outstanding performances as an award and prize winning best student throughout his sojourn in the schools. The same feat was achieved in his first degree five-year University Education at Obafemi Awolowo university between 1984-1989. He obtained an M.Sc. degree in Construction Technology from Department of Building, University of Lagos in 1993 and a PhD in Building Structures from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 2005. Dr. Kolapo Olusola is an accomplished Registered Builder who had previously held very important positions at state and National levels (Osun State N.I.OB. – Nigerian Institute of Building – Chairman 2006-2009; At National level – Registrar of N.I.O.B., 2007-2009, Research Secretary 2009 – 2011 and Member, National Council of NIOB, 2006 – 2011; Examiner, NIOB 1998-2002; 2006 – 2011).

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Dr. Bonny Ibhawoh

Dr. Bonny Ibhawoh, teaches in the Arts & Science Program (ARTSSCI 1C06 / Inquiry: Global Challenges), the Department of History, the Institute on Globalization, and the Centre for Peace Studies, where he was previously the Director. His research interests include international human rights, legal history, and peace and conflict studies. He has taught in universities in Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States. He also has extensive experience working with international research and policy think tanks. Dr. Ibhawoh was previously a human rights fellow at the Carnegie Council for Ethics and International Affairs, New York; a research fellow at the Danish Institute for Human Rights, Copenhagen; and associate member of the Centre for African Studies, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. As a believer in the value and utility of public scholarship, Dr. Ibhawoh strives to disseminate his research findings on human rights and peace/conflict studies beyond the academic community through monographs and journal publications but also through policy papers, project reports, documentary films and media.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Mr. Timothy Oguntayo

Mr. Timothy Oguntayo, has been the Chief Executive Officer and Group Managing Director of Skye Bank Plc since August 1, 2014. Mr. Oguntayo serves as an Executive Director of Corporate & Investment Banking Directorate at Skye Bank Plc. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Skye Financial Services Limited. Mr. Timothy has over 10 years of core banking experience, with responsibilities in financial advisory services, market and credit analysis, corporate banking, customer relationship management, and foreign exchange treasury Operations. He serves as Director of Kakawa Discount House Limited. He has been the Executive Director of Skye Bank Plc since August 18, 2009. He serves as a Director of Main One Cable Company Nigeria Ltd. He served as Director of Law Union & Rock Insurance Plc. He is a member of the Executive Committee Asset & Liability Management Committee (ALCO) and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. Mr. Timothy holds a degree in Accountancy and Business Studies, from the University of Uyo, Nigeria.
